14 Dec How To Run Your Own Planning Session
Yesterday I led a group of entrepreneurs through a planning session. At this time of the year so many of you know that you NEED to plan for the year ahead, but often don’t know where to start because of lack of strategy or direction.
It’s all very well to know that you need to plan but you have to know what the outcome of what you want to achieve.
Here’s what I did with my clients. You may like to walk through this process yourself…
This is what I do to plan in my business. Let me know if it helps you too.
- Make a list of all of your tasks
I download on paper everything that is on my plate. Get a large sheet of A2 paper and in the centre write “My Projects.” Then, mindmap everything you have to do with a title for each Task and the Actions underneath it.
- Ask These Crucial Questions
Your list of tasks will seem overwhelming. To remedy that, look at each item and ask yourself these questions…
Which three things can I get done that would:
1. Bring in the most money quickly?
2. Get completed in the least amount of time and effort?
3. Be the most enjoyable to achieve?
4. Have the greatest long-term impact?
Highlight the three projects you select.
- Work on the chosen Tasks and have a follow through process
Make a plan for how you will get the three items done. Schedule time on your calendar and set the intention to follow through until they are complete. You will need to truly commit to this, pushing the “pause button” on all other items until you complete the task at hand. Easier said than done but soo worth it!
- Celebrate as you go…
As you go about your day, take notice of even the smallest things and be in gratuitude for them. They could be the joy of closing a client to the conetntment of working from home and not having to deal with the traffic.
The more you can be grateful in each moment, the more accepting you become of what you accomlish in a day. Even if you only get one thing done each workday, that’s 260 tasks you’ve completed in a year.
- Take Regular Breaks
I follow the productivity principle of 52 minutes ‘on’ and 17 minutes ‘off.’ Turns out, the secret to retaining the highest level of productivity over the span of a workday is not working longer—but working smarter with frequent breaks. Be sure you take them too. Source: FastCompany
